Andela
UX/UI Design | New Product
Andela is a product for Capital One’s Business Deals’ merchandising team to organize discounts offered by brands.
The purpose is to take backend data and connect it to Andela, so that the merchandising team can streamline their own data and push any modifications independently and efficiently.
My role as a Lead UX Design contractor was to create a central administration tool for performing tasks and support activities out of one place for the merchandising team on the Capital One Business Deals team.

TEAM
Myself, another UX Designer, Product Owner, Merchandising and Engineering team
PROBLEM
How might we support the merchandising team to independently manage their own data?
The merchandising team uses many different products to manage tasks for their brand contracts, but this will not work in the long-term as they gain more contracts with brands.
CURRENT USER FLOW … MORE PROBLEMS
This user flows illustrates how the merchandising team collaborates with Brands to receive the content that is needed for deals that are supplied for small business owners on Capital One Business Deals. This process can only happen with the involvement of the developers to assist on publishing this content on the website.
This outdated system heavily relies on the developers, which causes delays for the merchandising team. They want their product to allow them to be independent from the development team.
REQUIREMENTS
We teamed up with the product owner to gain a better understanding of the important tasks that were needed by the merchandising team.
SOLUTIONS
This new user flow depicts how Andela will allow the merchandising team to have a seamless collaboration with Brands and become self-sufficient for managing brand contracts and updating deals content on Capital One Business Deals.
Andela will remove developers from the process and increase productivity for the merchandising team.
SITE MAP
We decided that we needed to layout the information architecture based on important tasks.
REFLECTION
This project was under my contract as a UX Designer with the Capital One Business Deals team, and it was my first time being a Lead UX Designer for a new product. It was exciting starting with a fresh slate and having control over the UI design. I made sure to leverage the design system, but I was able to create new components specifically for this new product. I faced my new responsibilities with humility and eagerness; and my team was incredibly supportive and I became a more confident designer out of it. My contract ended before I was able to continue working on this project, but I made sure my design handoff was smooth and I kept in touch for any further support my team needed.
Due to non-disclosure agreements with my client, I am unable to share finalized version of the product.
